2019 Kentucky Energy Tour for Educators - REGISTRATION is OPEN

The 2019 Kentucky Energy Tour for Educators will bring together educators from around the Commonwealth who are passionate about teaching the topic of energy. Tour dates: June 9 – 14. The tour will provide participants with current information on many aspects of energy including the science of energy, Kentucky's natural resources used to provide energy, generation of electricity, efficiency and conservation practices as well as career opportunities in Kentucky's energy industry. Educators will receive materials to implement innovative hands-on energy units for their classrooms, multi-disciplinary teams, and after-school programs.
About the Tour -
There is no cost for tour participants. Funding is provided through our partnership with the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy (KOEP).
Formal and non-formal educators who want to learn more about energy are eligible to participate.
We’ll meet in Winchester, KY on Sunday evening, June 9 for orientation.
Monday, June 10 we’ll load the charter bus and begin our adventure. Secure parking for personal vehicles is provided.
We’ll return to Winchester late in the afternoon, Friday, June 14.
Participants will receive NEED Curriculum resources.
Meals, lodging (double occupancy) and mileage reimbursement to/from Winchester will be provided.
Space is limited. Registration DEADLINE is March 30, 2019. Educators selected to participate will be notified via e-mail by April 15. Acceptance confirmation must be received by May 1 along with a $100.00 REFUNDABLE deposit. Additional details will be provided in the confirmation packet. NEED has correlated their materials to KAS and the Disciplinary Core Ideas of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). NEED has also correlated all their materials to The Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
